Good books

So, by being married into the Reading family I have gotten a lot of mispronouncing of the name or asked, "So, you must like reading?" I usually tell people, yes, I love reading books and I love being a Reading. Lately I've been on this kick of reading children's books. The books that I have just finished reading are Fablehaven (the first book and the second book) by Brandon Mull. They are about two children finding out that their grandparents are the caretakers of a magical protected area for magical creatures.

There is a third book coming out on April 21st. I am looking forward to that! These are good fantasy children books about mystical and magical creatures.

Another good children's book series that I have read are Poison Study and Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder. And the third book of the series, Fire Study, just came out and I have yet to be able to read it. These fantasy books are about a young girl escaping being killed and finding out about her magical abilities.
So, whether you are an adult or a child these books are good for all ages. If you end up reading them, I hope that you enjoy them as much as I did!

Funny Old People

Now don't get me wrong about this post. I love little old people! I look at them and think, "they are someone's grandma/grandpa." But last night we saw an old lady that just made me laugh. We were standing in the pharmacy line last night at Walmart when an old lady came zooming up in the motorized wheelchair carts they have in the store. I seriously thought that she was going to plow me over. But instead she got in line behind us...not to mention butting in line in front of at least 2 people. Now this lady was dressed for a "night out on the town." She was wearing her deep red wig which was a few inches too far back to be able to show her own grey hair and then there were a few straggling hairs of her own hanging out in the back. She was on the heavier set side. She wore a yellow and brown little strappy dress, but unfortuantely she was half hanging out in the front. Then she had her fur coat on but slightly draping off her shoulders. After we went up to one of the pickup windows she zoomed to the other window. She was wondering where her medication was...like we all were after waiting at least an hour for a prescription that we were informed would be filled in 40 mintues. We all eventually got our prescriptions, but the part that makes me smile is...isn't it great to have cute little old people who can be onery, butt in line, and wear whatever they want in public! I can't wait until I am able to be able to do that!

Day Light Savings

All I have to say is dumb day light savings!!! I don't mind the one in the fall because of getting an extra hour of sleep. But the spring one always kills me. I don't know what it is this year, but 5 days later I still can't get adjusted to the time change. It takes me AT LEAST 30 minutes to get out of bed after my alarm goes off. And then I am just dragging myself out because I would rather stay in bed and sleep. It doesn't matter what time I got to sleep at nights, I still feel the same way in the morning. I am definitely a Lewis (a.k.a. not a morning person)!

A weekend in the Reading house

On Friday we had our friends Shane and Alissa come over for dinner since they were in town. It was good to see them and be able to visit with them for a while. They brought their two cute kids - Gavin (2) and Kennedy (2 months). It is just too bad that they live in St. George because we only get to see them every once in a while.

On Saturday we finished putting together our bookcases. They look nice, but then we realized that some the hinges on the bottom doors were broken. Since the doors came prehung, we are debating on contacting the company and asking for more hinges or just going to Home Depot and getting some heavy duty ones. Also, while we were putting one bookcase together, RC Willey called and said that our couches are in! I'm excited to get them home! The thing is that we are no where near being able to put them in the basement. So they might sit upstairs in one of the bedrooms until the basement is ready. All the sheetrock is completed and now we are just trying to find someone to tape and mud for a decent price.

More furniture

Yet again on Friday we went out shopping for furniture for our basement. Well...I guess I shouldn't say "we" since I had to work late. But I did check them out with my husband a few weeks ago to determine if we wanted them. So, my husband went to Sam's Club and purchased two of these lovely bookcases. They are currently sitting in a spare bedroom upstairs to be put together (to make sure all the parts are there) and then wait for the basement to be finished.

As far as the basement update, on Saturday they were able to sheetrock all but one section. They cannot do that section until they do the return air for the heating in the family room. Also on Friday we got our gas fireplace. So on Saturday they hooked it up to the gas line. We still need to do the exhaust to the outside for it. So many more things to do...and the weather is still cooperating for the time being.

New couches

On Sunday we were looking at the ads and saw the RCWilley ad with a couch set that interested us. So, last night I went to RCWilley while Michael was in school. I really liked the couches. They are a little bit darker than the picture shows. They are an olive green which I think will look good with the cherry bookcases we are planning on getting. So, I went to Walmart for a few things and was trying to figure out how to get Michael to look at the couches since the sale was only Monday and Tuesday and he has classes on those nights. Luck would have it that he got out of school early last night and called me as he was coming home. We met at RCWilley and looked and talked about the couches. We ended up buying them! So we got a couch and a loveseat for a total of $500. What a deal!!! They have at least 86 orders that they need to have filled, so it won't be in for 4-8 weeks. That's okay because it will just give us more time to finish the basement. If it's not done before then, then we will store the couches in one of our spare bedrooms. You got to love bargin shopping!!!
