Upgrades

You got to love it when you get upgrades on things! Normally these things don't happen for me except for in one area...car rentals on the State. You see, we only have 4 State vehicles for our office and there are workers that love to hog them and drive them to court or home visits that are in the Salt Lake area. So, they came up with an agreement with Enterprise for car rentals that are charged to the State instead of the worker. It seems that every time I have rented from Enterprise I have received an upgrade, but today's upgrade was so hard to return. I had requested a little compact car as we are all informed to do...well, my little compact car turned into a very nicely lifted, extended cab, dark blue F150. (Sigh) Very nice! It is my husband's dream vehicle and I really like them too (for those that don't know...my absolute dream vehicle is a Jeep Wrangler). It was so hard to return that truck though. And the Enterprise workers don't know that I'm serious when I kept asking if they could just let me "keep it."But seriously, why do I not get any other "upgrades" in my life on any other thing other than when I rent a car on the State's time and money??? Such is life.

Great to be Eight

Today was a special day for our niece, Alexis Reading. She was able to be baptized a member of the Church. It was fun for us to be able to spend this memorable day with her!

The Day of Keys

Yesterday was not the day for keys in this Reading family. I had been driving my husband's car for the two days prior and when I went to go drive my car to work yesterday, my keys were nowhere to be found! I spent TWO hours looking around the house, in both cars, at my office, in the state car, and then I drove around to all the places I had been for work the two days before. It wasn't until I was on my way driving to the last destination I could think that they would be at when I realized something. I had used my keys on Sunday to lock up as I walked to church...hmmm...yep, they were still in my Primary bag! Keys have never looked so wonderful in my life!!! It is weird, but I consider them very precious now.

Then Mike gets home yesterday and said that he too had issues with keys. In the afternoon he accidentally locked his keys in his work van. He called his company and they said that they didn't have any spare keys for THAT van, but they had spare keys on all the other vans. Mike said that he spent 1 1/2 hours working with a Slim Jim and a coat hanger before he got it unlocked. He also got scratches all up and down his arm because of having to go between the inside paneling of the door once the door was opened to try to get the Slim Jim off that had become caught.

So, that was our key drama for the day...hopefully it won't happen again!

Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do...

So tonight we decided to watch a live version of the Cops tv show. Around 5:30 a man driving hit two people walking down State Street around 70th south seriously injuring them and also hitting another car as well. He fled the scene and sped down our tiny little street into our little neighborhood. Obviously he was going too fast to see the street at the end of our street and continued on to the dead end of it. He then fled on foot. Then came the cops speeding down our tiny little street. We lost count but there were at least 15 or so cop vehicles and 8 or 9 police dogs. There were cops from Midvale, Sandy, West Jordan, and Murray. While we were standing around trying to get the scoop of what was going on, we were able to talk to Susan Wood from Channel 4 who gave us the information that she knew. Around 8:30 all the cops got in their cars and zoomed back down our tiny little street. We later heard from a police officer that the man was located on 81st and State.

So much for a quiet little evening home...

Happily Forever After

Tyler Lewis is now an officially married man! Yesterday he took his beautiful bride, Lisa, to be married in the Bountiful temple.

My little bro all grown up and getting married!

We had a yummy luncheon at the Lion House and then later went to the reception.

And look....Mike actually danced with me and it didn't take much pleading!

And that is Tyler and Lisa's beginning to a "Happily Forever After" for them!

Working or playing?...That is the question.

As previously posted about, Mike tilled our yard in preparation for putting in sprinklers, etc. We thought about how to level our yard out better and came up with a solution.

We borrowed a neighbor's 4-wheeler and tied an old crate to it. With the help of Jeffrey we were able to level our yard out for the most part. But I really think that they were just playing!

Fun in the Sun

Yesterday we had our annual Reading boating day. A few of us went up EARLY in the morning to get some water skiing in before the rest of the Readingites came. This is a picture of what we saw while the first person started water skiing at 6:30 a.m. (yes, people that is 6:30 in the morning!)

Even though it was early in the morning, the water was perfect, it wasn't crowed (of course because everyone else was still in bed), and the water was actually not too bad. We had tons of fun! I was able to get up wake boarding for the first time and Mike was able to knee board for the first time. We had a good 3 hours of water skiing, wake boarding, and knee boarding in before some of the other Readingites started showing up.

Yo ho, yo ho, the Reading pirates they be. Kenzie, Nathan, Courtney, and Lexie enjoyed playing around in the inflatable raft.

Parker seemed quite content standing in the water throwing rocks and playing with a stick as his father watched.

Overall, it was a fun day and the weather was great and it was the best being with family!
