No Call of Duty

So, I've been meaning to post about this for the last week....but I was able to avoid being called in for jury duty. I was juror number 174 for the week of the 9th through the 13th. They only got to the 96th juror by last Friday. So, I'm hoping that I'm out of jury duty for good for a while, but then again on the lovely recording message that I got to listen to every night last week said that I could serve later in this month. Let's just say that I'm glad that it wasn't last week though because I had a lot of appointments, court, home visits, and meetings scheduled for work and I didn't like the "well...I might not be in tomorrow" and having the uncertainty of needing to reschedule meetings or visits to trying to see if my supervisor or coworkers could cover court for me. I'm hoping that I won't get summoned again for jury duty for a while, but I've heard that I could get out of it by telling them that I'm a social worker for the state (people say that they don't like us social workers...it's probably because we're biased and realize that the court system is never fair and lets people off WAY too easy!). If that really is my ticket out of it for the future, then I really do love my job!

Newly Engaged

So my little brother, Tyler, got engaged to his girlfriend, Lisa, last night. It has been so cute to see the two of them be all twitterpaited about each other as they've been dating. We (the Readings) knew from the first time we met Lisa that they would end up getting married. It sounds like they are aiming to get married in August. Congrats to the two little lovebirds!

The BEST Husband!

I promise you...I have THE BEST husband ever!!! Yesterday when I got home from work he had cleaned the entire house except the kitchen floor (which is wise not to do when I cook dinner...I always make a mess!). It really meant a lot to me that he would clean the house especially since we hadn't cleaned it for a few weeks and it was nasty. Cleaning the house got put on the back burner for a few weeks since he was sick for about a week and then I got sick and then vacations. I love my husband so much and am so thankful for all that he does for me. Thanks Love!

Jeepin' Moab

This last weekend was one that was looked forward to for the last year. It was our annual trip to Moab to go jeeping. It was a memorable one as they all are.

Day 1: We carpooled (to save gas money) with my brother and his wife and their 2 1/2 month old son. We left Salt Lake City around 4 o'clock. About 2 hours later we finally made it to Spanish Fork canyon because everyone seemed to be going south. Then about half way through the canyon traffic was stopped. We found out that there was two separate accidents that closed down the eastbound. Sitting in one spot for about 2 1/2 hours wasn't quite what we had hoped for. But I have to say that my nephew did amazing during the entire car ride! We finally arrived in Moab close to midnight.

Day 2: Met up with our group of people and ended up having 10 vehicles in our group. We did the trail Hell's Revenge. It was a cold and windy day, but nothing stops us from taking the top off the jeep and enjoying ourselves.

Then Tyler decided to let Lisa "drive" while jeeping for the first time...all while doing it from the passenger seat.

This is Tip-Over Challenge...where a friend of ours notoriously broke down and spent some time repairing his Jeep.

Day 3: Went for a drive on Mineral Basin Road. It was a much warmer day and the sun was toasty. Of course on the trail the Bluths like to make things more exciting by going through the washed out road rather than going around. They had water all up in the engine and inside the jeep getting their feet wet. Needless to say, their rental jeep stunk of the nasty water for the rest of the day.

Since we got done early we decided to hit another trail....Fins and Things. This is the obstacle called Kenny's Climb.

Day 4: This day was full of packing, shopping, and heading home. Not such a fun day...it's always hard to leave Moab. We especially didn't want to come back once we came back to cold and rainy weather.

So, all in all...there was fun in the sun and we can't wait until next year!

Sick of being sick!

So, I don't know who to thank...my husband or my little brother. Either way, I ended up coming down with a head cold on Wednesday. Since then I have borrowed my little brother's "best friend" and have used up almost 2 boxes of tissues. I feel like I am Rudolph! And let's not forget the invisible man who seems to be sitting on my chest refusing to let me breathe and it's not like my nose is letting oxygen through either. And when I do get to breathe it seems like all I want to do is cough up a lung. You would think that I would have great abs by now from all the coughing, but nope...all I have is sore abs and a sore lower back from it. I've been laying around in bed for the last 3 days and I'm sick of being sick! I guess on the bright side, being sick is a new form of a diet. Nothing sounds good to eat, nothing tastes good to eat, and after a few bites of something I can't eat any more. Maybe I will lose some weight from this cold, but probably not.

But the thing that it bugging me the most about this cold is that I can't go see my new little niece yet!!! I think that they are suppose to come home from the hospital today. My husband jokes about how they will just hold Madison up to the window and I can see her from outside. Everyone says how cute she is and how much hair she has and all I can say is that I've seen the pictures.

Here's to hoping that I will get over this cold sooner!

Getting faster

For those of you that know, we used to have dial-up internet at home. Hence the reason that I typically post at work. But this weekend we got high speed wireless internet. We are piggybacking off of Mike's brother who lives next door. We are splitting the cost with them and it will be the same amount that we were paying for dial-up. It's so fast that it's hard to imagine all of our frustrations of previously trying to download something (that typically took a few hours and then you'd be disconnected shortly before it was completed...ARGH) to being able to have things downloaded a LOT quicker! So last night Mike got on the computer to test it out. It worked great for him and he checked his email and even our blog and other people's blogs (which we typically didn't do at home due to the time it took to view pictures). He accidentally shut the computer off before I got a chance to get on. So, I started it back up and tried to get on the internet, and of course the signal was low and so I couldn't post. There are a few little things that we are working on to make it better, but overall I am much happier at the speedy internet.
